Bonus: Swimming with the Sharks

I'm usually pretty good at working under pressure so I'm not going to count myself out yet - but I have to admit I'm a little behind on 'Song 2' and there's only about 12 days left (5 of which I'll be out camping).  So... in an attempt to perhaps win myself a few grace days I've decided to give you another free song.  This one was actually written and recorded about 8 years ago in the Winter of '04 - but it's never been released before.  So enjoy this little B-side and I'll see you on the flip-side!

Song 2 - Day 15: ...On the streets of Philadelphia... La La La

So not much new to report on the progress of the song, you'll just have to wait and see. In the meantime my job sent me to Philadelphia so I have a few pictures to share with you. I'm also hoping to check out at least one music show while I'm here so I'll be sure to let you know about that. Anyhow here are the pics:

Conspiracies anyone?

Song 2 - Day 6: An Awkward Introduction to the KORG nanoKontrol & Song 2

Not much to say about the progress with Song 2 so far - been procrastinating it a bit to be honest.  But in the meantime I got a new toy.  It's called the KORG nanoKontrol and it's a USB DAW Controller intended to streamline the Studio-In-A-Box experience.  Here's me awkwardly introducing it while Vivaldi's 4 Seasons plays in the background...

Song 1 - DITR: Lyrics & Feedback

So there's been a request that I post some lyrics for those of you having trouble understanding what I'm singing. The ideas are a bit fragmented but here they are:

sweet thing take your hardest swing
no matter if you stumble or fall to your knees
they say that your skin is though
you lily of the valley, my diamond in the rough
a diamond in the rough

and it don't have to hurt so much
you just have to call their bluff
and even when you've had enough
no you're just no giving up
and if you choose to run this race
and finish in dead last place
i know that your arms will be raised
and a smile on your face

chase dreams like they all grow wings
just beyond your grasp soon beyond your reach
your heart's racing but your feet won't stop
steps from the finish and eyes on the top

sometimes you'll take a road just to see how far it goes
so take this road and it will take you home

At this point I'm also happy to welcome any comments / feedback.  It's more than likely I'll be packaging these songs together as an album after the year so I might be reworking some of them before then.  Again, hope you liked it and have a great rest of the weekend.  I'll be writing soon to introduce the start of 'Song 2'.  Until then...

Song 1 - Day 30: DITR has arrived!!!

Well 30 days are up and here's the first song as promised. I suppose it's technically called "Diamond in the Rough" but when I did a google search for it I discovered it's a very overused song title... so I've settled for the acronym "DITR". In my first post I had mentioned the possibility of selling each song for a bit of change - I still plan to do that eventually but for now this one is FREE! So feel free to download it and enjoy on the go. I would only ask that if you like what you hear then please spread the word - I'm trying to build a bit of a fan base for this project and I could use your help. So again, thanks for following over the past 30 days - stay tuned for Song 2 which will be due on August 7th and enjoy the listen.

Song 1 - Day 23: Slow & Steady Wins the Race

Progress is coming.  Pretty much done all the music - still sussing out the lyrics and general vocal melody.  Liking it so far - sounds pretty big.  I was talking with a friend earlier today who encouraged me to bust out the acoustic guitar again and simple things up a bit.  "It's too late for that on this one but maybe the next one brother".  So one week today and things need to be wrapped up.  Hope you all had a great long weekend and we'll chat again on the due date (if not sooner).
